Vocabulary quiz maker

What you get

Words in, quiz out

Paste a list with one word and its meaning per line, like “ephemeral: lasting a very short time”, and get a quiz with four choices per question.

Or use the passage

Paste the chapter or article the words come from, and the questions test them in context.

Flashcards too

Make a deck instead, with the word on the front and its meaning on the back. Typing one in by hand works just as well.

A matching game

Pair 6 words with their meanings against the clock in Match. Each wrong pair adds a second.

Spaced repetition

Review only the words that are due, so new vocabulary sticks for the test and after it.

Language classes work too

Put a word and its translation on each line, and practice with flashcards, the quiz and Match.

Tips

How to learn vocabulary faster

  • Keep definitions short

A few words you can read at a glance beat a dictionary paragraph. Short meanings make better quiz choices too.

  • Learn 10 to 20 words at a time

Add more once those stick. A huge list you never finish reviewing teaches less than a short one you master.

  • Quiz both ways

Answering “what does it mean?” and “which word means…?” builds both recognition and recall.

  • Use each word in a sentence

After the quiz, write one sentence per word you missed. Using a word is the best test of knowing it.

  • Review on a schedule

A few minutes of spaced review every day beats an hour the night before the test.

How it works

Three steps to get going

  1. Paste your list

Words with their definitions, or the text the words come from.

  2. Pick quiz or flashcards

Generate a quiz, a flashcard deck, or both from the same list.

  3. Practice until it sticks

Take the quiz, play Match, and review what's due each day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to include definitions?

It helps a lot. The AI only uses what you give it and doesn't add outside facts, so a bare list of words gives weak questions. Add a short definition to each word, or paste the text the words come from.

How many words can I use?

Generate 5 to 40 questions or cards at a time. A flashcard deck holds up to 300 cards and a quiz up to 100 questions.

Can I print the vocabulary test?

Not yet. The quiz and games are played in StudyPixi.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It's free. You can try it on this page without an account. To save your sets and review them with spaced repetition and games, sign up free with Google or your email.
